Jamshedpur: On Sunday afternoon, a middle-aged man died under suspicious circumstances near a cold storage facility located within the Bistupur police station area. The deceased has been identified as Santosh, alias Raju Pagla. It is reported that he earned his livelihood by rag-picking in the Bistupur locality and had been a familiar figure in the surrounding areas for a long time. According to eyewitnesses, Santosh suddenly collapsed on the roadside. People present at the scene attempted to assist and lift him up, but he had already passed away by then.
Locals suggest that he likely suffered from heatstroke due to the severe heat and ongoing heatwave conditions prevailing in the region these days. If this is confirmed, it would mark the sixth reported death caused by heatstroke in the district. However, the police have not yet officially confirmed the cause of death.
Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it to MGM Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Police officials stated that the actual cause of death would be revealed only after the post-mortem report is received. Currently, an investigation into the matter is underway.
