Emphasis placed on increasing medicine distribution counters, upgrading pathology services, and keeping the hospital free from touts.
Hazaribagh: Deputy Commissioner Hemant Sati conducted a surprise inspection of Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College Hospital on Saturday to assess its operational status. He inspected various departments including the pharmacy center, Jan Aushadhi Kendra, pathology, MTC, OPD, X-ray, and ultrasound units and issued necessary instructions to the concerned officials.
During the inspection, the DC interacted with patients to understand issues related to medication and treatment. Considering patient convenience and overcrowding, he directed that medicine distribution counters at the pharmacy center be operated from five separate locations. He also ordered the relocation of the Jan Aushadhi Kendra to a more suitable site.
Directives for Pathology Improvements
While reviewing the operations and workflow of the pathology department, the DC ordered the replacement of a registration center employee due to observed negligence. To facilitate patients, he instructed the administration to implement both offline and online payment systems, set up additional counters, and display a clear list of all available tests. He also directed that the blood sample collection center be relocated to a suitable area.
During the inspection of the MTC center, instances of medicines being prescribed in an irresponsible manner and without official stamps came to light; consequently, instructions were issued to seek an explanation from the DRCHO and to submit the center’s registers and expenditure details.
Directive to Keep Hospital Free from Touts
The Deputy Commissioner ordered the installation of adequate signage and a public address (miking) system within the hospital premises for the convenience of patients. He explicitly stated that the hospital premises must be kept completely free of touts and warned that action would be taken against any official or staff member found to be colluding with them.
The availability of X-ray, ultrasound, and other equipment was also reviewed. The DC directed that defective X-ray machines be repaired promptly and called for the provision of new X-ray machines, ultrasound units, and C-arm (CPRO) machines. She instructed doctors, nurses, officials, and staff to perform their duties with responsibility and discipline, and to report for duty only in the prescribed uniform. To streamline the hospital’s parking arrangements, she directed that the parking area be shifted outside the premises and instructed that necessary action be taken in coordination with the Traffic DSP.
Relevant hospital officials and staff including Deputy Development Commissioner Riya Singh, the Medical Superintendent, and the Civil Surgeon were present during the inspection.
