Ranchi, March 23: Marking the occasion of World Forest Day, a workshop titled ‘Best Out of Waste’ was jointly organized at Sri Sri University, Cuttack, Odisha by its Eco Club and the Rover and Ranger Unit of Odisha State Bharat Scouts and Guides. The workshop highlighted the importance of environmental awareness, effective waste management and the principles of the three R – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Former Additional PCCF Sri Pandav Behera graced the event as the chief guest. Other distinguished guests included the founder and director of Sattvik Soul Foundation, Sri Satyabrata Samal, widely known as the Climate Man of Odisha, Principal of Bishwanahakani Junior College Dr. Sachchidananda Pradhan and Associate Professor at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan University Sri Abinash Pattanaik shared valuable insights on forest conservation, biodiversity, climate change, environmental education and the crucial role of youth in these areas. In his welcome address, DSW Dean Professor Dr. Jayaprakash Bhatt emphasized the vital role of forests in maintaining ecological balance. He also spoke about adopting sustainable, long-term initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. As part of the workshop, students demonstrated creativity and innovation by crafting useful items from recycled materials. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Lopamudra Jena, Chief Mentor of the Eco Club. The success of the program was supported by the active contributions of Eco Club Nodal Officer and Rover Scout Leader Dr. Sandeep Raut, Ms. Asst. Ranger Leader Prachi Mishra, Asst. Rover Scout Leader Mr. SK Jishan Akhtar and Eco Club Mentor Dr. Kalyani Pradhan. VC Professor Dr. Tejpartap, Director Operations Swami Satyachaitanya congratulated the organizers and acknowledged the support of the Centre for Environmental Studies and the Forest, Environment and Climate Change Department of State Government in making the event a grand success.
