Jamshedpur. Acting against the illicit drug trade, the police have arrested a quack doctor on Gauri Shankar Road, located within the jurisdiction of the Jugsalai police station. The police had received a tip-off that narcotic drugs were being sold illegally to youths from a rented house in the Patniya locality.

Acting on this information, and under the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, the City SP constituted a special team led by the Jugsalai Station In-charge. Taking swift action, the team raided the suspected premises, where they arrested Md. Mumtaz Ahmed (55).

During the search, the police recovered a large quantity of banned drugs from the accused. These included 74 bottles of ‘Trireme Broncof-C’ cough syrup and 770 tablets of ‘Nitcor-10’. Investigations revealed that the syrup contained Codeine Phosphate and the tablets contained Nitrazepam—substances that are frequently misused for their narcotic effects. The accused had been clandestinely selling these drugs to local youths at inflated prices.

An FIR has been registered against the accused at the Jugsalai police station in connection with this case. The raiding team comprised DSP Manoj Kumar Thakur, Station In-charge Ghulam Rabbani Khan, Ajay Yadav, Krishna Kumar Yadav, along with other police personnel and members of the armed forces.

On Wednesday, Station In-charge Ghulam Rabbani Khan stated that the accused is currently being interrogated to identify other individuals linked to this illicit network and to expose the entire syndicate. The police have affirmed that sustained operations will continue in the area to completely eradicate the drug trade.
