Chaibasa: Police have cracked the case of the murder of an unidentified young woman whose body was recovered from a field near Jogidaru forest under the Muffasil police station area of West Singhbhum district. One accused has been arrested in connection with the case. A press conference regarding the disclosure was held on Sunday at the office of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Sadar, Chaibasa, Bahaman Tuti, in the presence of Muffasil थाना In-Charge Vinod Kumar.
Addressing the media, the SDPO said that on December 30, 2025, the body of an unidentified woman, around 25 years of age, was found covered with straw in a field near Jogidaru forest. Following a written complaint by the field owner, Jai Kishan Honhaga, Muffasil Police Station Case No. 210/2025 dated December 31, 2025, was registered against unknown persons under Sections 103(1)/238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
To establish the identity of the deceased, information was published through CIG publications and local daily newspapers. Considering the seriousness of the case, a special raiding team was constituted on the directions of the Superintendent of Police, West Singhbhum. Based on technical evidence and investigation, police arrested the accused, Pradhan Purti alias Paltu, on January 4, 2026.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the murder. On his disclosure, police recovered the mobile phone of the deceased. In addition, a red-colored scooter belonging to the victim, bearing registration number JH06L-7980, was seized from the Jogidaru forest area. The accused’s mobile phone and the stone allegedly used in the crime were also seized as evidence.
Police identified the arrested accused as Pradhan Purti alias Paltu, aged about 20 years, son of Nauru Purti, resident of Jogidaru Tola Todang, under Muffasil Police Station, West Singhbhum district. The police stated that the Muffasil police team, under the leadership of SDPO Bahaman Tuti, played a crucial role in solving the case. Further investigation and legal action are underway.
