Lohardaga: Marking 25 years of Jharkhand’s statehood, a district-level Griha Pravesh (housewarming) program was organized on Wednesday at Navatoli village under Kudu block in Lohardaga district. The event was jointly inaugurated by Lohardaga MP Sukhdeo Bhagat, MLA Dr. Rameshwar Oraon, and Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tarachand. Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Abua Awas Yojana received symbolic house keys during the ceremony.
Among the beneficiaries who entered their new homes were Anita Oraon (Abua Awas Yojana), Rami Oraon, and Mangla Oraon (PMAY). Across the district, 1,045 families participated in the Griha Pravesh program — including 127 beneficiaries under PMAY-Gramin, 892 under Abua Awas Yojana, 21 under PM Janman Yojana, and 5 under Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas Yojana. Additionally, Gram Sankalp Sabhas were held in 323 villages.
MP Sukhdeo Bhagat Urges Beneficiaries to Use Government Aid Wisely
Addressing the gathering, MP Sukhdeo Bhagat said that the government has made it possible for every needy person to own a home — something that was once unimaginable. He urged beneficiaries to keep their homes clean and use government aid honestly. Referring to the Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana, he advised families to spend the ₹2,500 monthly assistance wisely on their children’s education, livelihood, and family welfare. He also appealed to villagers to stay away from addictions and harmful social practices like witch-hunting (Dayan Pratha).
MLA Dr. Rameshwar Oraon: Housing is a Basic Human Need
Speaking at the event, MLA Dr. Rameshwar Oraon emphasized that housing is a fundamental right, which the government is committed to fulfilling. He urged beneficiaries to maintain and repair their homes regularly. Highlighting the welfare schemes of the state, he said the government supports citizens from birth to old age through various initiatives such as Anganwadi nutrition programs, public distribution system, student scholarships, Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana, Kanyadan Yojana, PM Matru Vandana Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, Mukhyamantri Rozgar Srijan Yojana, Dhoti-Lungi-Saree scheme, Maiya Samman Yojana, and the Sarvajan Pension Yojana.
DC Dr. Tarachand Highlights Progress
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Tarachand informed that since 2016, 38,430 families in Lohardaga district have benefited from various housing schemes. He stated that surveys of families still without permanent homes have been completed, and they will soon be included in the scheme. He added that as Jharkhand completes 25 years of statehood, several public welfare and development initiatives are being implemented to build a clean, strong, and self-reliant Jharkhand.
