Jamshedpur: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) flying squad achieved a major success against drug trafficking at Tatanagar Railway Station. In an early morning operation on Sunday, the RPF arrested two ganja smugglers and seized 6.08 kilograms of illegal ganja from their possession.
According to the RPF, the seized ganja is estimated to have a market value of approximately ₹3.5 lakh. The operation was carried out under the directions of Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Chakradharpur Division, P. Shankar Kutty. Preliminary investigation revealed that the ganja smuggling was being carried out in a well-planned manner, with the intention of transporting the contraband from one location to another using the railway network.
Both arrested accused are reported to be residents of the Rupahi Tand area of West Champaran district in Bihar. After completing the necessary legal formalities, the RPF handed over the two accused along with the seized ganja to the Tatanagar Railway Police Station for further action. Further investigation and legal proceedings under the NDPS Act are currently underway.
