Chandil: The Excise Department launched a raid operation on Saturday, taking strict action against illicit liquor production in the Nimdih block area of the Seraikela-Kharsawan district. This operation was conducted under the directives of Deputy Commissioner Nitish Kumar Singh and under the leadership of Excise Superintendent Kshitij Vijay Minz. Surveillance has been intensified in border areas—with a view to the 2026 West Bengal Assembly Elections—and this operation was carried out as part of those enhanced security measures.

During the raids, six hubs engaged in the illicit production of liquor in Jugilong village, located within the Nimdih police station limits, were completely demolished. Approximately 1,500 kilograms of *Jawa Mahua* (fermenting Mahua mash) and 80 liters of finished Mahua liquor were recovered from the site. All seized illicit products have been duly taken into custody, and the process for their destruction has been initiated.

The administration has made it clear that legal action will be taken against the operators of these hubs involved in the illicit liquor trade, with cases being registered against them under the Jharkhand Excise Act. Furthermore, a constant vigil will be maintained over such illegal activities, and similar strict actions will continue in the future.
