Chaibasa:
Under the ongoing anti-intoxication drive, Chaibasa police are continuously taking action against illegal traders involved in narcotics and intoxicating substances. In this series, a major operation was carried out on January 4, 2026, under the direction of the Superintendent of Police.

Police received confidential information that some individuals were transporting illegal adulterated foreign liquor in a toto vehicle from Seraikela towards Chaibasa for sale. Acting on the tip-off, a special raiding team was formed under the leadership of the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Sadar. The team intercepted a red-colored toto (registration number JH06U-2668) near the Loha Pul under the Sadar police station area.

During inspection, a yellow and light blue plastic sack was found tied near the rear seat of the toto. The driver identified himself as Ravi Das (28), son of Kunjo Das, a resident of Basa Tonto, Muffasil police station area, West Singhbhum district, Chaibasa. The other person present identified himself as Bandhuwa Toppo (34), son of late Sorai Toppo, also a resident of Basa Tonto under Muffasil police station limits.

During questioning, both admitted that the sack contained illegal adulterated foreign liquor. On opening the sack, two khaki-colored cartons were recovered. One carton contained 12 bottles of Black Tiger Whisky (750 ml), while the other contained 12 bottles of King’s Gold Special Whisky (750 ml).

As the purchase, sale, and transportation of illegal liquor constitute a criminal offense, both accused were arrested. In this connection, Sadar Police Station Case No. 01/2026 dated 04.01.2026 has been registered under Sections 274/275 of the BNS and Section 47(A) of the Excise Act. The arrested accused are being sent to judicial custody.

The raiding team included Sub-Inspectors Pankaj Chaudhary, Chandrashekhar, Dhananjay Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Jeetu Karmali, along with other personnel from Sadar police station. Police also informed that accused Bandhuwa Toppo has a prior criminal record under the Excise Act.
