Koderma/Satgawan: The Forest Department organized a compensation distribution program at the Panchayat Bhawan in Kataiya village (under the Satgawan police station area) to provide relief for losses caused by attacks from wild animals. Subhash Yadav, a senior leader and National Council member of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), attended the event as the chief guest. Financial aid was distributed to a total of 35 victims affected by wild elephants and other dangerous animals. During the program, a cheque for ₹3,75,000 (ex-gratia) was handed over to Lakshmi Kumari, the wife of the late Rohit Kumar (a resident of Kataiya village), whose husband had died after being trampled by an elephant. Additionally, cheques worth ₹1.5 lakh each were presented to Sugi Kumari (a resident of Bajaniya), who was injured in a hyena attack, and Prithvi Singh (a resident of Bhakhra), who was injured in an elephant attack. Cheques were also distributed to affected farmers to compensate for crop damage caused by elephants. Key farmers who received compensation include Rekha Devi (₹27,980), Arjun Singh (₹20,980), Sajan Prasad (₹18,000), Anita Devi (₹18,000), Dwarika Prasad (₹17,800), Rohini Kumari (₹15,000), Dinesh Singh (₹14,390), Sulekha Devi (₹13,300), Ram Prasad (₹13,000), Arun Yadav (₹11,400), and Raghunandan Prasad (₹7,980). Others included Shankar Singh and Rinku Devi (₹6,650 each); Renu Devi (₹6,660); Rinku Devi, Pintu Prasad, and Renu Devi (₹5,320 each); Rekha Devi (₹4,500); and Sumitra Devi, Urmila Devi, Vimla Devi, Sito Singh, Lalita Devi, Arjun Prasad, and Anil Prasad (₹3,990 each). Compensation was awarded to several individuals: Rita Devi received ₹3,724, while Babita Devi, Draupadi Kumari, Vinod Singh, and Sarita Devi each received ₹2,660. Ranger Ravindra Kumar, who was present at the site, advised affected villagers who had not yet applied to submit their applications to the Forest Department as soon as possible so that they too could receive compensation in accordance with the rules. Upon receiving the compensation, the deceased’s wife, Lakshmi Kumari, expressed her gratitude to the government, RJD leader Subhash Yadav, and Ranger Ravindra Kumar. A large number of villagers were present on the occasion, including Mukhiya Amar Kumar, Mukhiya representative Vinod Yadav, Shravan Ravidas, Manoj Rajak, Subodh Yadav, Kanchan Yadav, Deepak Yadav, Santosh Satyam, Rajkumar Mahto, and Dilip Yadav.
