Gamharia: The entire region was thrown into a state of shock on Saturday morning following the discovery of the decomposed body of an unidentified individual in the dam situated behind Tayo Colony, within the jurisdiction of the Gamharia Police Station in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Upon receiving news of the incident, an atmosphere of fear and panic gripped the surrounding villagers, while the police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation.
It is reported that some villagers from Shankarapur—a village adjacent to the police station area—had arrived at the dam in the morning to bathe, as was their daily routine. During this time, they spotted a body floating in the water. The body was in an extremely poor and decomposed state, leading to the assumption that it may be several days old. Disturbed by this sight, the villagers panicked and immediately alerted the Gamharia Police Station.
Upon receiving the information, a police team rushed to the scene and, with the assistance of local swimmers, retrieved the body from the water. Subsequently, the police took custody of the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination. As of now, the body remains unidentified, which has further complicated the investigation into the case.
In this regard, Ramchandra Rajak, the Officer-in-Charge of the Gamharia Police Station, stated that identifying the deceased is proving to be extremely difficult due to the advanced state of decomposition of the body. He noted that the exact cause of death would only be ascertained once the post-mortem report is received. Additionally, information regarding missing persons cases is being gathered from neighboring police stations in an effort to establish the identity of the deceased.
Taking the matter with utmost seriousness, the police are investigating every aspect of the case. Following the incident, various speculations have begun circulating within the area, while the police are appealing to the public to refrain from paying heed to rumors.
