Ranchi, Jharkhand: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave alert for four districts of Jharkhand on November 10 and 11. According to the latest weather update released on Sunday, Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, and Chatra—all located in the north-western part of the state—are likely to experience cold wave conditions during this period.

The weather department also predicted a 2 to 3°C drop in minimum temperatures across other parts of Jharkhand over the next two days. However, after November 11, temperatures are expected to remain stable for the following three days.

In Ranchi and surrounding areas, the weather remained clear throughout Sunday, with residents experiencing a noticeable chill during the morning hours.

During the past 24 hours, the highest temperature in the state was recorded in Chaibasa at 31.8°C, while the lowest temperature was reported in Khunti at 9.6°C.

On Sunday, the maximum and minimum temperatures recorded across major cities were:

  • Ranchi: 25.4°C / 11.8°C

  • Jamshedpur: 29.6°C / 14.8°C

  • Daltonganj: 29.8°C / 11.3°C

  • Bokaro: 26.2°C / 12.6°C

  • Chaibasa: 31.8°C / 15°C

The IMD has advised residents of the affected districts to take necessary precautions against cold weather, particularly the elderly, children, and those with chronic illnesses.
