Family was travelling from Chhattisgarh to Jamshedpur
According to preliminary information, the family was travelling by car from Chhattisgarh to Jamshedpur, where some of their relatives live. There was also speculation that they were visiting the city to attend a satsang programme, although this has not been officially confirmed. Initial reports suggest that the accident occurred while the car was overtaking another vehicle after a railway crossing gate opened. The car is suspected to have come into the path of an oncoming trailer during the manoeuvre. However, the exact cause of the collision will be established only after the police investigation. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was badly damaged, trapping its occupants inside. Three people died at the scene, while the other two suffered serious injuries.
Police and villagers rescued those trapped in the car
After receiving information about the accident, Hatgamharia police station in-charge Uttam Tiwari reached the scene with a police team. With the assistance of local villagers, he helped rescue the people trapped inside the car and arranged for them to be taken to the Community Health Centre in Hatgamharia for treatment. Following initial medical care, the injured were referred to Jamshedpur for further treatment. Police took custody of the three bodies and sent them for post-mortem examination. The trailer driver fled the scene after the collision, and police are searching for him. Both vehicles have been taken into custody as investigators examine the circumstances surrounding the accident. Traffic on the road was disrupted for some time following the collision but was subsequently restored to normal.
