Jamshedpur: On the occasion of Dharti Aba Bhagwan Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary and Tribal Pride Day, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will organize a series of programs across the country. In this connection, a press conference was held on Wednesday at the BJP Jamshedpur Metropolitan District Office in Sakchi.
The event was attended by former Chief Minister of Jharkhand and senior BJP leader Raghubar Das, Metropolitan President Sudhanshu Ojha, National Working Committee Member of ST Morcha Ramesh Hansda, and District Media In-Charge Prem Jha.
Speaking at the conference, Raghubar Das said that India’s tribal community laid the foundation of the freedom struggle even before 1857. From Tilka Manjhi to Dharti Aba Birsa Munda, the tribal heroes of India displayed unmatched courage and sacrifice. He said Jharkhand’s soil has always been the land of brave revolutionaries who ignited the flames of rebellion against British oppression.
Das remarked that the contributions of tribal heroes were neglected for decades after independence, but under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, they have finally received the recognition they deserve. He highlighted that a grand statue of Birsa Munda has been installed at Basera Park in New Delhi, and a memorial and museum have been built at the Ranchi Jail, where Birsa Munda spent his last days.
The former Chief Minister also emphasized that the Modi government has taken several historic initiatives for tribal welfare, including the PESA Act, Forest Rights Act, Van Dhan Yojana, TRIFOOD Scheme, and Pradhan Mantri Janman Yojana. He urged the Jharkhand government to implement the PESA Act in the state at the earliest.
He further stated that the BJP does not view the tribal community merely as a vote bank but as an integral part of the BJP family. Reminding that Birsa Munda opposed religious conversions, Das said the BJP government paid true tribute to him by enacting the Anti-Conversion Law.
Concluding the conference, Raghubar Das extended greetings to the people of Jharkhand on the 25th anniversary of Jharkhand Foundation Day and appealed to everyone to follow the ideals of Dharti Aba Birsa Munda.
