According to reports, on the late evening of May 16, Kalu Karua—a resident of Karua Basti—attacked 32-year-old Chandramohan Gop, a resident of Milan Chowk, with a knife, inflicting severe injuries upon him. In his statement to the police, the injured youth recounted that after returning home from a day of manual labor, he had gone to a nearby shop to purchase some supplies. While he was there, Kalu Karua—who was present at the scene—began speaking to him in Tamil. According to eyewitnesses, the accused struck with extreme aggression, causing Chandramohan Gop to collapse to the ground, bleeding profusely. The incident triggered a chaotic scene in the area. Local residents immediately rushed the injured youth to the SAIL Hospital, where he received medical treatment. According to the attending physicians, his condition is now reported to be out of danger.
Upon receiving information regarding the incident, the police immediately swung into action. Recognizing the gravity of the case, Station In-charge Rohit Kumar launched a special operation to apprehend the accused. Consequently, the police successfully managed to arrest the accused.
