Guwa – In a significant breakthrough, the Guwa police have uncovered a mobile tower battery theft racket operating in the highly Naxal-affected Kolhan Reserve Forest area. The thefts were reported from Airtel mobile towers located in the villages of Rootguttu, Patung, and Akahata. Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid and arrested one accused, a resident of Bihar. Authorities recovered nearly 24 stolen batteries from his possession.
Over the past few weeks, several high-value batteries had mysteriously gone missing from these mobile towers. The thieves were breaking locks during the night and stealing batteries worth lakhs of rupees. These repeated thefts had severely disrupted mobile network services in the region, causing major inconvenience to local residents.
According to police sources, the arrested individual has provided crucial information during interrogation, and efforts are now underway to apprehend other members of the gang. The investigation is expected to soon lead to a complete bust of the theft syndicate.
Local villagers have praised the swift action taken by the police and have demanded strict punishment for the culprits to prevent such incidents in the future. They have also urged authorities to strengthen security measures at mobile towers, especially in sensitive areas.
The incident, occurring in a Naxal-prone zone, is not just an economic loss but also raises serious concerns about the region’s communication infrastructure. The successful operation by the Guwa police has brought a sense of relief among the locals.
