John Campbell remained unbeaten on 87, while Shai Hope stood firm at 66 not out, as the duo built a resilient partnership.
India Enforce Follow-On After Dominating First Innings
India had earlier declared their first innings at 518/5, after a commanding batting display led by captain Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 129, marking his 10th Test century, and a stunning 175-run knock by Yashasvi Jaiswal. The top order also saw strong contributions from Sai Sudharsan (87), Dhruv Jurel (44), Nitish Kumar Reddy (43), and KL Rahul (38).
In response, West Indies were bowled out for 248 in their first innings post-lunch on Day 3, giving India a 270-run lead and prompting the follow-on.
West Indies Show Resistance in Second Innings
Batting again, West Indies stumbled early, losing Tejnarine Chanderpaul for 10 runs (caught by Gill off Siraj) at the score of 17. The second blow came at 35, when Alick Athanaze was dismissed for 7. However, John Campbell and Shai Hope then stabilized the innings with a 138-run unbeaten partnership, pushing West Indies to 173/2 at stumps.
