Chaibasa: A stress management programme was organised at the auditorium of the West Singhbhum District Police Centre in Chaibasa on Tuesday, with around 90 police officers and personnel taking part. The programme focused on stress management, helping police personnel identify the causes of stress, control mental pressure and carry out their duties with a positive outlook amid demanding work schedules and family responsibilities.

Several senior police officials attended the programme, including Chakradharpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr Syed Mustafa Hashmi, trainee IPS officer Rajkumar Jai Raju, Sergeant Major Manso Gop, Traffic In-Charge Santosh Kumar and Equipment In-Charge Prateek Kumar. Office-bearers of the Police Association and Police Men’s Association were also present.

Pratyush Kumar, representing the Ekjut NGO, explained various stress management techniques and guided police personnel through practical exercises. The aim was to help participants incorporate these methods into their daily routines and reduce the mental pressure associated with their professional responsibilities.

Pratyush Kumar said police personnel faced numerous challenges while on duty. Their responsibilities included responding to incidents and accidents, managing security during social activities, and maintaining law and order during religious festivals and celebrations. Balancing these demanding duties with family responsibilities could also be challenging. He stressed the importance of recognising stress and learning effective ways to cope with it.

SDPO Dr Syed Mustafa Hashmi described the programme as useful for police personnel, noting that the nature of police work involved continuous responsibilities. He said maintaining mental well-being and achieving a balance between professional duties and personal life were essential. He also described the initiative as an important step towards supporting police personnel.

Traffic In-Charge Santosh Kumar said the programme had been organised on the instructions of the Superintendent of Police and attended by officers and personnel. He expressed hope that the initiative would help them manage stress more effectively and perform their duties better.

Constable Tarachand Mahto also shared his views on the importance of mental peace and balance. The programme encouraged police personnel to reduce stress, adopt a positive outlook and remain aware of the importance of mental health.
