Jamshedpur: A seven-year-old girl died and two others were injured after being struck by an SD Public School bus near Anna Chowk in the Govindpur police station area on Saturday. The deceased girl has been identified as Ruhi Kumari, a resident of Govindpur. Rehan (11) and Roshan Sharma (21), also residents of Govindpur, sustained injuries in the accident; both have been admitted to Tata Motors Hospital for treatment.
Reports indicate that the girl was critically injured after being hit by the school bus near Anna Chowk and died on the spot. Chaos ensued following the accident, and a large crowd of locals gathered at the scene. Angered by the incident, people blocked the road and demanded strict action against the erring driver. Vehicular movement was disrupted due to the blockade.
Upon receiving information about the incident, the Govindpur police arrived at the scene and attempted to bring the situation under control by pacifying the crowd. The police have seized the bus involved in the accident. It is reported that the driver attempted to flee the scene with the bus but was apprehended by the police near Telco B.Ed. College.
Govindpur Station House Officer (SHO) Pawan Kumar stated that the bus involved in the accident has been seized. The driver has been taken into custody, and necessary legal action is being initiated against him. The police are investigating the cause of the accident and the driver’s role in the incident.
News of the incident caused immense grief among the deceased girl’s family members. A pall of gloom has descended over the entire area following the tragedy.
