Chandil. Police from the Chandil station in Seraikela-Kharsawan district arrested a young man with a stolen motorcycle during a vehicle inspection drive. Based on information provided by the accused during interrogation, another stolen motorcycle was also recovered.
The arrested accused has been identified as Krishna Rana, alias Shekhar Rana (22). He is the son of Ram Bahadur Rana and currently resides in Chhayanagar, Mango, in the East Singhbhum district. According to the police, an anti-crime check was being conducted on NH-33 near Bhadudih late Friday evening. During this operation, the police apprehended Krishna Rana, who was riding a motorcycle and appeared suspicious.
When he failed to provide satisfactory details regarding the motorcycle during the check, the police interrogated him. Acting on the information obtained during questioning, the police recovered another stolen motorcycle based on his lead. The police are conducting further investigations regarding both recovered motorcycles.
An FIR (Case No. 106/26, dated August 7, 2026) has been registered at the Chandil police station under Sections 303(2) and 317(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Following the arrest, the police have initiated the process of sending the accused to judicial custody.
Chandil Station In-charge Santan Tiwari stated that the arrested youth has a prior criminal record. According to the police, he had been released only about ten days ago after serving approximately two and a half years in jail in connection with a motorcycle theft case registered in the Olidih OP area. The police have also received information regarding other motorcycle theft cases registered against him in other police station areas of Jamshedpur. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
