Mamata Banerjee Greets People on Bengali New Year, Urges Unity and Voting Ahead of Elections
Kolkata: Mamata Banerjee extended her greetings to the people of West Bengal on the occasion of Poila Boishakh through a video message, highlighting the importance of preserving the state’s cultural heritage and communal harmony.
In her address, the Chief Minister described Bengal as a historic land of art, culture, and religious unity. However, she alleged that certain “sinister forces” are attempting to disrupt this harmony and weaken democratic values. She expressed concern over what she termed as attempts to curtail the democratic rights of the people and called upon citizens to respond through lawful and democratic means.
Appealing for unity, Mamata Banerjee urged people to rise above divisions and safeguard the peace, traditions, and social fabric of the state. She emphasized the need for vigilance to ensure that no divisive or authoritarian forces succeed in breaking this unity.
Referring to the upcoming Assembly elections, she encouraged voters to actively participate in the democratic process. She also appealed to the Public to support the All India Trinamool Congress candidates by voting for the party’s “Jora Phool” (Twin Flowers) symbol to ensure their victory.
