Jamshedpur: The East Singhbhum District Congress Committee staged a vigorous protest outside the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Thursday. Led by District Congress President Parvinder Singh, party leaders and workers raised slogans against the central government regarding issues affecting students across the country. During the protest, activists held placards and banners, chanting slogans such as “Prime Minister, come to your senses,” “Stop the atrocities against students,” and “Stop paper leaks.” Subsequently, a memorandum addressed to the President of India was submitted through the Deputy Commissioner.
In the memorandum, the Congress stated that recurring incidents of paper leaks in various competitive examinations, including NEET, have jeopardized the future of crores of students. Students who appear for exams after years of hard work are losing faith in the examination system. The party alleged serious negligence in exam management, raising questions about the transparency and credibility of the education system.
The Congress further alleged that the use of force, lathi-charges, and other harsh measures against students peacefully protesting for their rights and justice runs counter to democratic values. The memorandum emphasized that students’ grievances should be addressed through dialogue rather than suppression.
The Congress demanded that the President order an impartial and time-bound investigation into all paper leak cases—including NEET—and ensure strict legal action against the guilty. They called for an inquiry into the alleged use of force against students and action against responsible officials, as well as the issuance of clear guidelines to prevent such incidents in the future. Additionally, the party demanded the removal of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding him morally accountable for the alleged serious lapses in exam management, and the resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, holding him morally responsible for the alleged brutal crackdown on students.
Several senior Congress leaders and office-bearers participated in the protest. A large number of Congress workers were present on this occasion, including former District President Ravindra Jha (alias Nattu Jha), former District President Anand Bihari Dubey, Visheshwar Jha, Ashutosh Singh, Firoz Khan, Sanjeev Ranjan, Ravindra Maurya, Tausif Khan, Shafi Ahmed, Brajendra Tiwari, Ravindra Kumar Thakur, Rajesh Kumar, Ajay Mahto, Ranjit Behera, Suraj Munda, Ashok Singh, Navneet Mishra, CM Haque, Bablu Kishore Prasad, Sumay Singh, and Nikhil Tiwari.
